Fortuna Puppy

I was inspired by another photographer to try and get a cool looking picture of my dog. Fortuna will come and sit like a good girl, but to get her to look at me, I had to wave a milk bone in the air! She's says it's not easy being a model! Also, this is a great example of a SOOC (straight out of camera) shot versus taking the time to polish it up.

Good example, but to make it a fair comparison you should make the before and after shots the same size. Bigger just looks better! Of course that is not always true, because a bad shot looks even worse enlarged. When I take pictures of weddings, I never let the bride get away with having only 4x6s or even 5x7s. They need at least 6x8s to appreciate your work.

this is great. i love before an after shots. they make me feel so much better about what my stuff looks like SOOC. so what kind of editing do you do? i'm still struggling to get my editing just right.

@Laurajane I pretty much just use Bridge and a little Photoshop. If I were to redo this shot, I'd try to get the exposure right in camera, but tweak the brightness slider, a touch of contrast, a little healing brush around the eyes, and a good sharpening action.
