A New Road

Sometimes my mouth gets me into trouble. I have a tendency to reflect the sarcasm around me. When hanging out around sarcastic, dry-humored people, I easily slip into that mode and go for it. Often much to my horror when I reflect on it later! Yes, it can be funny. Yes, as a girl, I would probably rather be identified with Elizabeth Bennet than Jane. But you know what? I don't want to be known at the witty one with the instant one-liners. Whether I meant to or not, words have the ability to hurt people. Instead, I want to encourage and lift up those around me. Still standing up for and speaking the truth, but doing it in love. So I'm traveling a new road. I know there will be times...ahem, tonight :P...that I slip back into old habits. But I'm staking out a new path, and like Robert Frost said, it can make all the difference. Come join me?

I'll join ya! Strangely enough, this is something I've been convicted about lately...so thanks for the reminder. =)
