Making hotel reservations over the phone...
Mom: is it near the Naval station?
Man: is that a Marine base?
From the hotel breakfast worker to the manager at the fabric store, our familiar faces would appear on our yearly trip to San Diego. For one week a year, my dad would take classes at the 32nd Street Naval Station. While my dad was in class, us girls would work on school and sewing projects and tour the city. One annual stop was Seafood City where we would gaze in awe at the lady whacking the live crabs as she tried to stuff them in the small paper bag. From the flats of purple eggs to the dead ducks hanging in the window, it was a field trip in and of itself. Sometimes a special trip would be made to the amazing Institute for Creation Research museum or the San Diego Zoo. When out of class, my dad loved to tour the ships. One visit saw us on a destroyer, the USS Antietem. Another trip we had a 2-3 hour tour of a carrier, the USS Nimitz. Yet with all those trips, there were some places we had never visited: Balboa Park and, get this, beaches! As you can see, that changed this year!
This couple might've thought they were being stubborn by not moving out of my picture, but little did they know that they were playing right into my plan!
Ok, you can't see much of it, but Coronado Beach had the prettiest sand and sunset!

Wow that's beautiful! I've been to San Diego several times, but I have never been to any of the places you photographed (except the beach). That arch in the 3rd photo is just gorgeous! Have a great day.
Love the pictures! I love San Diego and can't wait to go back one day! :)
